Nearly thirteen years after the passing of legendary comedian Phyllis Diller, actress Sharon Stone is eager to produce a biographical film honoring her late friend.

The Oscar-nominated star recently shared her obsession with portraying Diller, who died at 95 on August 20, 2012.

Reflecting on Their Close Relationship

Stone told Business Insider, "I am very eager to play Phyllis Diller. We were very good friends. She often painted little pictures for my children and cooked for me—she was an excellent cook. I expressed my desire to portray her, and she even taught me her distinctive laugh."

Stone continued, emphasizing Diller's inspiring journey: "She didn't achieve fame until she was 49. She lived in a trailer park with her five children and a schizophrenic husband, practicing her comedy routines at laundromats. It's incredible. There are talented actors who could easily embody Bob Hope, Red Buttons, or Johnny Carson. I was very close to her, and I am determined to bring her story to life."
