After a decade at the helm at Shreveport’s Centenary College, President Christopher Holoman is making the move to retirement.
He is making certain, though, that the college has the time it needs to find his replacement. The board of trustees will have until June 30, to find Centenary’s 32nd president. They have already begun the process of succession planning, which will include a comprehensive national search.
The Board notes that Holoman's are big shoes to fill.
They credit him with significant progress at the college, including the largest fundraising campaign in its history, expanded academic and student activities, new athletic initiatives that include a return to football in 2024 after a 77-year hiatus, and stronger community partnerships.
Also on the list of accomplishments were several major campus development projects including a $6 million student housing project adjacent to the campus and a $30 million restoration of historic Mickle Hall, which houses Centenary's School of Health Sciences.
The small private college, with 680 students enrolled in the fall semester, has maintained a top 1% admittance rate to medical school nationwide during his time as president.
