Siemens Mobility to Implement Signaling Systems for New Oslo Metro Station
Siemens Mobility Norway has secured a contract to provide advanced signaling and train control systems for the upcoming Diakonhjemmet Station on Oslo's metro network. Signed with Oslo's public transport operator, Sporveien, on July 4th, this project aims to develop a fully accessible urban transit hub. Scheduled to open by late December 2027, the new station will feature upgraded platforms and track realignments facilitated by Siemens' state-of-the-art interlocking technology, installed adjacent to the eastbound platform. Additionally, the operations center at Tøyen will undergo enhancements to support these upgrades. A key aspect of this initiative is the integration of the new interlocking system with future Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) operations planned at nearby Majorstua station in August 2027, positioning Diakonhjemmet as a pivotal transition point for CBTC connectivity.
