SPRINGFIELD — Many students in Springfield were met with more comfortable schools this fall, as air conditioning has been added to several buildings in the city.
In a statement on Sept. 15, Mayor Domenic Sarno said, “This project work demonstrates my continued commitment to our goal of installing air-conditioning at all of our school buildings, as well as maintaining functional AC where we already have it. This is no small feat with a building portfolio as large as ours.” There are 66 public schools in Springfield.
“When this initiative began, there were about 30 schools that needed AC. Now, we are down to a handful and continue crossing more off the list,” Sarno said. “Continued investments in our public schools will ensure our Springfield Public Schools students and families have the best opportunities to learn, grow and succeed.”
