The individual, identified as Michael Weitzel, shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) capturing the incident at Energizer Park, home to St. Louis City SC. Security personnel approached him in the stands and instructed him to exit, citing the stadium's policy against political displays.
Weitzel commented, "I'm being asked to leave because of Donald Trump. We can't wear Trump hats in public, so now I have to leave." The incident drew attention after a social media post by Gregg Keller highlighted that security officials also questioned the presence of pride flags and trans banners at the event, stating these were "preapproved" and that rules against political displays are enforced uniformly.
