Star Elder wide receiver Lyman ineligible under OHSAA rules after transfer

Elder Panthers wide receiver Andrew Lyman, a key player on one of Cincinnati’s best high school football teams, is ineligible for the remainder of the season.

Lyman transferred to Elder from Kings this season and played through Week 5 under the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s guidelines.

According to OHSAA transfer rules, players who transfer become ineligible after 50 percent of the season, if they participated in that sport over the last 12 months.

According to Elder’s athletic director, Lyman appealed to the OHSAA, but his appeal was denied. Elder will follow the guidelines, and Lyman will sit out games, beginning on Friday.

Elder said Lyman’s family is exploring legal options to potentially challenge the decision.

Elder, undefeated at 5-0 this season, is currently ranked No. 2 in the Blitz 5 Top 25, presented by TriStateFootball.
