Chicago, IL. - The Lincoln Stars (0-1-0-0) fell in their opening game of the season 6-3 at the hands of the Dubuque Fighting Saints.

The Stars would strike first 17 seconds into the contest. Evan Malkhassian (Harvard) found Casey Vandertop (St. Thomas) in front of the net, and Vandertop wired home a wrist-shot to give the Stars the early lead. Dubuque would add two goals, including one on the power-play to take the 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

The Fighting Saints would strike again 21 seconds into the middle-frame to take the 3-1 lead, before adding another in the middle-stages. Dubuque outshot the Stars 14-5 in the second period, and took a 4-1 advantage into the final 20 minutes of regulation.

The Stars were given a five-minute powerplay in the third, and scored twice to cut the deficit to one. Will Kortan (Air Force) found a soft spot in the defense and fired home a one-timer to give the Stars their second goal of the game.
