The Suda Institute Secures $400,000 Funding from North Carolina's UnitedHealthcare to Enhance Family Support Programs
The Suda Institute has announced a generous grant of $400,000 from UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of North Carolina aimed at expanding and strengthening its Substance Use Network (SUN) Project in Rowan County and neighboring regions, including Cabarrus and Stanly counties.
This funding will bolster innovative strategies to improve health outcomes for mothers and families affected by substance use disorders (SUD), with a particular focus on opioid dependency. The internationally recognized SUN Project strives to eliminate systemic barriers and bridge service gaps across sectors such as healthcare, social services, education, housing, and behavioral health. Since its inception, the program has reported remarkable successes, including zero maternal or infant deaths among participants, a 94% adherence rate, and a 30% decrease in neonatal abstinence syndrome symptoms through its Cabarrus Health Alliance clinic.
