— Revenge for the Detroit Lakes girls volleyball team was best served in a 3-0 sweep against St. Cloud Tech.
A rocking Lakeshirts Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Sept. 15, saw the Lakers improve to 4-0 overall in a get-back victory over the Tigers and win their 12th straight set.

But most importantly, the Lakers handed St. Cloud Tech a loss after a sweep in last season’s Section 8-3A opening round.
“It feels really good,” senior outside hitter Talyn Anderson said. “Last year we took them to
five (sets)
in the beginning of the season. And then unfortunately, at the end we got swept. It feels really good to do it right back at them.”
Set 1 looked to be a Tigers victory as St. Cloud jumped out to a 9-2 lead thanks to a couple of Amber Kilanowski kills and mishaps from the Lakers. Following Anderson’s lead, she secured a kill to stop the bleeding and DL set sail.
The Lakers went on a 4-0 run as they slowly got back into the game. After a trio of Madi Bjerke aces, DL returned to the top at 13-11, forcing a Tigers timeout.
