After six months of competition, 12 finalist teams in the Texas A&M University–Mays Business School AI Venture Velocity Challenge will come to College Station on Saturday to try and win the challenge and its $100,000 top prize.
The dozen teams come from colleges and universities around the country though five are teams made up of students at Texas A&M.
One Texas A&M team known as Lobe AI created an AI sales assistant that engages families visiting senior living websites and then schedules tours for the families while prepping sales teams for follow-up.
Another team from Texas A&M known as Smart Swine used AI to reduce piglet mortality and improve the lives of piglets for pork producers.
“We thought about this as like the four-minute mile phenomenon. There was a time it was thought impossible for a human to run a mile faster than four minutes and then someone did it and then lots of people started to do it,” competition director Levi Belnap told The Eagle. “We looked at this as we need to see people run a four-minute mile with AI.
