Telangana Leads India in Organ Donation for 2024

Telangana Achieves Top Rank in Organ Donation Across India In a remarkable achievement, the Indian state of Telangana has secured the highest position in organ donation for the year 2024. The state reported 188 donors who were brain-dead, resulting in the successful transplantation of organs that saved 725 lives. Officials highlight that Telangana's donation rate stands at 4.88 per 10 lakh residents, significantly surpassing the national average of 0.8. This outstanding performance earned Telangana the NOTTO Award during the National Organ Donation Day event held in Delhi on Saturday. The award was presented by Union Health Minister J. P. Nadda to representatives of Jeevandan, the state's organ donation initiative. The National & Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) honored Telangana for its exceptional contribution to organ donation and transplantation efforts.
