Tennessee Highway Shooting Targets Police in Bristol, Resulting in One Death and Multiple Injuries

A recent incident in Bristol, Tennessee, highlights ongoing tensions following recent episodes of police brutality. Last night, an armed individual opened fire on a busy highway, targeting law enforcement officers. The attack resulted in the death of a newspaper carrier and left several others injured. According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, the suspect, identified as Lakeem Keon Scott, expressed grievances related to nationwide incidents of police violence. During the assault, Scott, who was armed with two firearms, fired at passing vehicles and engaged with responding officers, leading to a shootout. He was wounded by police and is currently hospitalized; charges are yet to be filed. The victims include 44-year-old Jennifer Rooney, who was killed, and three others—Deborah Watts, David Whitman Davis, and Officer Matthew Cousins—who sustained injuries.
