Texas Border Enforcement Continues Despite Record-Low Migrant Apprehensions
Law enforcement agencies in Texas persist in intercepting migrants attempting illegal crossings, even as border apprehensions reach historic lows. Recent operations led to the detention of three Chinese nationals near Mission, Texas, who evaded border patrols after crossing into the U.S. Despite record-setting low numbers of border apprehensions, authorities continue to track and arrest migrants being smuggled into the interior, as well as intercept drug shipments. A video shared by Texas DPS Lieutenant Chris Olivares highlights ongoing efforts by troopers, National Guardsmen, and Border Patrol agents, who are actively pursuing migrants using various tactics. In one instance, a mounted patrol team tracked migrants through dense brush in Duval County before apprehending two individuals with the help of K-9 units, and turning them over to Border Patrol.
