Former White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley expressed to Newsmax that Texas Republicans are exercising their authority to rectify historical injustices. He emphasized that these redistricting initiatives, undertaken shortly after the latest Census, are driven by significant population shifts within the state.
Gidley pointed out that such redistricting tactics have traditionally been employed by Democrats in states like California and Illinois. He defended the recent moves by Texas Republicans, stating, "When conservatives hold the power, they are justified in using it to address past disparities."
Texas GOP Chairman Abraham George shared with host Rob Finnerty that the state’s population has grown by 2.5 million residents since 2020, necessitating redistricting to ensure fair representation.
"This isn’t purely political; it’s about fair representation for the new residents," George explained.
Gidley concurred, adding, "With the authority to make these adjustments, especially considering the influx of Americans fleeing less favorable states, taking corrective action is the proper course."
