Hasbro and Fathom Entertainment have extended the worldwide theatrical re-release of the 1986 animated classic The Transformers: The Movie into October, following box-office performance that significantly outpaced initial industry tracking.
Originally slated as a limited one-week engagement beginning on September 17 (“Transformers Day”), the remastered 4K presentation debuted at No. 7 on the domestic box-office chart over the weekend, grossing $3.1 million from 1,454 North American locations and crossing $5 million worldwide. The event outgrossed several wide-release newcomers operating on wider screen counts, including Ethan Hawke’s The Weight and the animated sequel Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom. The 40th-anniversary presentation now ranks as Fathom Entertainment’s third highest-grossing release of 2026, trailing only The Amazing Digital Circus and the 25th-anniversary re-release of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
Due to strong ticket demand, hundreds of participating exhibitors across North America and international territories have expanded their bookings, adding screenings through October 7.
