Sam Shaw was a cherished figure who served as the third-generation editor of the Moundsville Daily Echo from 1951 until his passing in 1995. During World War II, his heartfelt letters home earned him the Ernie Pyle Award. An avid hobbyist, Shaw was also passionate about tinkering, long-distance running, hiking, music, photography, languages, and bird watching.
