Tift County Schools appoints Jennifer Howell as interim superintendent

TIFTON — Tift County Schools has named Jennifer Howell its interim superintendent.

The Tift County Schools Board of Education unanimously voted Thursday night to appoint Howell to the position, entrusting her the responsibility of leading the school district’s operations during the search for a new superintendent.

Howell, formerly the deputy superintendent for teaching and learning, has served as acting superintendent for the past week, following the school system’s termination of its contract with previous superintendent Natalie Gore. She presided over the Thursday night meeting in this position before receiving the station of interim superintendent at its conclusion.

During her superintendent remarks, Howell thanked the board members for entrusting her with the responsibility, asserting that she had developed a deep connection to the TCS community through her years of working within the district and looked forward to continuing her support of its development.
