The Patterson Tigers’ flag football team had a busy week, as they played two games over the last seven days, both of which were at home.
The Tigers got off to a hot start against the Manteca Buffaloes, as quarterback Sophia Renteria found Miranda Pena for a touchdown early in the first quarter to give the Tigers an early lead. Bossy Uhatafe then got the ball back for Patterson with an interception. That drive resulted in more points for the Tigers as Renteria connected with Madison Trinta in the end zone to double their lead, making it 13-0 after a missed extra point.
As the end of the first half drew close, the Buffaloes found themselves less than two yards from the end zone with time about to expire. Unfortunately, they were able to break through Patterson’s defense and got on the board, cutting the Tigers’ lead to 13-7.
Less than a minute into the third quarter, we had a brand new game as the Buffaloes scored to tie things at 13-13. After multiple turnovers by both sides, including an interception by Patterson’s Miranda Pena, neither team was able to score before the conclusion of regulation.
