Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Tuesday that Justin Verlander will make the final start of his career Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
"Barring any sort of major issue, and I don't see one coming, he's going to be all set for Saturday," Hinch said.
Verlander confirmed the news to reporters Tuesday, saying, "It doesn't need to be a perfect game for me to be able to stay out there. If I'm able to continue to be healthy and I feel good."
"I don't just want to go out there and do the one inning or come out and wave. I would like to toe the rubber one more time in a competitive way and try to win the Detroit Tigers a ballgame."
