How do you make one of the most popular Swiss watches of the past five years even more popular? Knock a lot of money off the price.
Tissot has introduced a quartz version of its PRX Chronograph for £430 – barely a quarter of the £1,695 price of the existing automatic model. The new watch is also slightly smaller, at 41mm rather than 42mm.
Tissot. For anyone who has somehow missed the PRX phenomenon , some background. Tissot revived the watch in 2021, basing it on a model it first produced in 1978. That original belonged to its water-resistant Seastar family and combined a slim steel case with the integrated bracelet and sharply geometric lines that had come to define the decade.
Tissot. In other words, it offered some of the Gérald Genta-era glamour of watches such as the Royal Oak and Nautilus, but for hundreds rather than tens of thousands of pounds. That proved catnip to a new generation of watch buyers. The PRX became a TikTok phenomenon, while Tissot CEO Sylvain Dolla has said the company ended up selling 20 times more than it originally forecast.
