Mathiasons get entire family involved

Steve Mathiason wanted to learn how to bow hunt. His wife, Karen Mathiason, wanted to spend more time with her family. The couple from Thompson, N.D., found an easy solution to both questions Archery.
Steve and Karen and their two sons, 13-year-old Chris and 10-year-old Chad, along with Karen's dad, Don Ysen, are all members of the Red River Archers archery club in Grand Forks.
For them, it is a family sport.
"It gives me a chance to spend time with the younger folks," Ysen said. "It's also good exercise."
Although Ysen has been shooting bows for more than 30 years, Steve got the family involved with the sport about 10 years ago when he became interested in bow-hunting. Never having shot a bow before, he started practicing at the Red River Archers range.
The interest spread from Steve to Chris to Karen to Don to Chad.
