TotalEnergies and AMNI commit $800 million to Nigeria’s Ima gas field 53 years after discovery TotalEnergies and AMNI International will invest $800 million to finally develop Nigeria’s Ima gas field, five decades after its 1973 discovery. The offshore field, split between OML 112 and 117 licenses near Bonny Island, will connect to Nigeria LNG's facility via a 22-kilometer pipeline. Production begins in 2028, aiming for 350 million cubic feet of gas daily, powering Nigeria LNG’s Train 7 expansion and boosting national exports. This development emphasizes local involvement, employing mostly Nigerian workers and contractors, while using environmentally friendly, low-emission technology. ADVERTISEMENT The Final Investment Decision (FID) marks the start of development of the offshore gas field, which straddles Nigeria’s OML 112 and 117 licences in shallow waters near Bonny Island.

TotalEnergies will operate the project with a 40% stake, while Nigerian energy company AMNI will hold the remaining 60%. The field will be developed with a single platform connected by a 22-kilometre pipeline to Nigeria LNG’s facility on Bonny Island.
