Trine Student, Warsaw Native Chloe Laird Explores Chemistry At National ACS Conference

ANGOLA — Chloe Laird, a chemical engineering major from Warsaw, recently had the opportunity to explore the broader world of chemistry at the American Chemical Society’s national meeting in Chicago.

Laird, a Trine University student, attended the Wednesday-Sunday, Aug. 23-27 conference with Makenzie Amich, a forensic science major from Thorntown. The meeting brought together more than 10,000 chemistry professionals and students to share research, explore emerging technologies and discuss the field’s impact on society.

The conference also marked the 150th anniversary of the American Chemical Society.

Laird and Amich learned about the opportunity through David Quist, chair of Trine’s Department of Chemical and Forensic Sciences, and Trine’s ACS student chapter.

For Laird, the conference offered an opportunity to step outside the classroom and explore areas of chemistry that connect to her studies and potential career paths.
