WASHINGTON, D.C. — The people building the world’s most powerful artificial intelligence systems were at the White House Tuesday afternoon.
From the White House to Silicon Valley, the people shaping the future of what President Trump now calls “Super Intelligence” are being called to the same table.
“It’s been officially changed to Super Intelligence or, S.I.,” said Trump, who signed an executive order Tuesday, officially making the switch.
The president, members of the administration and House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., met Tuesday afternoon with top executives from OpenAI, Meta, NVIDIA, Anthropic, Google, Amazon and others.
“We had a very, very good meeting, very productive,” said Trump.
The meeting comes as government officials and tech leaders grapple with a growing question: How much control should humans have over systems that are becoming more autonomous?
“There’s going to be a tremendous self-policing aspect,” the president said. “Self-regulation is very important.”
Recent incidents involving AI agents hacking companies and websites have added to the alarm, with some industry figures warning of extreme risks if the technology outpaces safety measures.
