A Turkish national was arrested on Samos after authorities allegedly caught him carrying fake travel documents intended for foreign migrants, the Security Department of the Samos Port Authority said.
The man arrived on the island on a flight from Athens. Security officers, who had already received information about his movements, placed him under discreet surveillance as soon as he arrived at the airport.
The surveillance continued into Samos town, where authorities say the suspect allegedly met people to whom he planned to hand over the fake travel documents.
A chase then followed through the streets of the town, with Port Authority security officers intervening and arresting the man.
During the operation, officers found and confiscated the documents in question. The competent authorities are examining them as part of the investigation.

Authorities are now focusing on the origin of the fake travel documents and whether the suspect has links to a wider network involved in their distribution.
