Tuscaloosa Author Announces Upcoming Events

Author Crystina Hughes is preparing to share her story and connect with communities through three upcoming events that will take her from a virtual conversation to Tuscaloosa and Sacramento, California.
Hughes, author of “My Calling to HELP!: A Memoir of Loss, Survival, Birth Justice, and Becoming a Doula,” will begin the series Sunday, Sept. 27, with an appearance on “Wake Up Everybody.”
The virtual event will run from 6 to 7:30 a.m. Central and feature a guided conversation titled “From Crisis to Calling.” Participants are encouraged to bring coffee or tea along with a journal as they take part in the early-morning discussion.
The event will be available through Zoom at Wake Up Everybody Zoom event. Participants can also connect through the event’s private Facebook group.
Hughes will then make a local appearance Saturday, Oct. 3, during Lit Kick 2026 Literary Kickback. The event is scheduled from 1 to 4 p.m. at The House Tuscaloosa on the campus of Stillman College.
