Two people are dead after shootings just hours apart at nearby metro-east nightclubs early Sunday morning.
At 3:30 a.m., Brooklyn Police requested the assistance of an Illinois State Police criminal investigations unit at the Club O nightclub in the 200 block of Madison St., where a woman was reportedly shot.
At 5:30 a.m., at Bottoms Up nightclub in the 100 Block of Fourth Street, two victims were struck by gunfire, one of them fatally, state police said.
Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement St. Clair County Coroner Calvin Dye Sr. identified the female victim as Jon'nae A. Abbott, 21, of St. Louis. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:01 a.m. with a gunshot wound to the head, he said.
The second victim was identified as David I. Small Sr, 24, of St. Louis. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:33 a.m., also with a gunshot wound to the head, Dye said.
Illinois State Police would not say if the shootings were related.
"These are open and ongoing investigations; no additional information is being released at this time," an email from state police to the Belleville News-Democrat said.
