Two proposed solar farms that could be located on the property of Procter and Gamble near Airport Road and Route 47 in Morris remain in limbo. The Morris Planning and Zoning Commission last month gave a positive recommendation on a conditional permitted use for Procter and Gamble and ENGIE Distributable Renewables to construct a behind the meter solar farm on their property, which would benefit the company.
The Planning and Zoning Commission also gave a positive recommendation for them to construct a community solar farm on their property that would benefit the community. Alderman Jim Black said he was going to vote no the two solar farms.

A representative with Procter and Gamble said they don’t plan to construct another building on their property.
When it came time to vote on each ordinance a motion was made to approve, but died due to a lack of second. Then the council voted to deny each ordinance, but needed five votes. Alderman Black, Herb Wyeth and Alex Clubb voted yes to deny, while Dean Tambling, Jake Duvick, Sarah Mettille and Carrie Hall abstained on the behind the meter solar farm.
