After almost a decade of failed fight talks, Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua will finally lock horns later this year.
The British duo will meet in their seismic heavyweight mega-fight Dec. 11 at Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, organizers announced Thursday morning. Netflix will stream the event.
There had been unsuccessful attempts to bring the fight to Madison Square Garden in New York, but Joshua had it written in his contract that the fight had to take place in the UK and he stood firm on that despite a significant amount of resistance.
In recent weeks, for the first time, the parties involved explored staging the fight in the United Kingdom. Multiple stadium venues were looked at but with the contest taking place during the winter in the UK and Principality Stadium having a roof, it became the clear first choice.
Netflix preferred to stream the event on a Friday rather than the boxing's traditional Saturday night for major events. Although the exact time was not immediately confirmed, it is expected the main-event ring walks will be in the early hours of Saturday morning in the UK to accommodate a primetime U.S. audience.
