College hockey comes to Port Wentworth as UGA fans pack new Ghost Pirates Ice Cove
College hockey coming to Port Wentworth as the University of Georgia women's team competed against High Point University at the newly opened Ghost Pirates Ice Cove.
The weekend series bringing excitement to the ice, including Saturday night's game, where Georgia secured a 4-3 victory after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime.
For local fans, the new facility offers a convenient place to watch and support hockey close to home.
"I met some people sitting in front of me and they are really pumped for this facility. And they were giving me some information about how this is close to their home. So they are all about supporting the team that plays here and practices here." said Kim Hobbs, a UGA hockey fan.
The Ghost Pirates Ice Cove is also giving local hockey fans a chance to share the sport with newcomers to the ice.
