RIO GRANDE, Ohio – The University of Rio Grande will welcome athletes from across the region on Oct. 16 for the annual RedStorm All-Abilities Track Invitational, a long-standing tradition celebrating athletic achievement, inclusion, and community.
The event was originally planned for Sept. 18, but due to flooding on the track and field, the event has been pushed back.
Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., with events taking place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For more than 60 years, the RedStorm All-Abilities Track Invitational provides individuals with special needs the opportunity to compete in a variety of track and field events, including dashes, wheelchair races, softball throw, and long jump.
More than 300 athletes are expected to participate in this year's event, making it one of the region's largest inclusive athletic competitions. The invitational is supported by more than 150 Rio student volunteers, who help ensure athletes enjoy a safe, welcoming, and memorable experience.
