A fundraising initiative on GoFundMe has successfully gathered over $57,000 to aid Virginia Republican City Council member Lee Vogler, who was severely injured in a brutal, unprovoked assault just days prior. Vogler, 38, who represents Danville and is a father of two, suffered second- and third-degree burns across more than half of his body after an individual reportedly entered his workplace and set him ablaze. The assault occurred at Showcase Magazine, where Vogler holds the position of marketing director.
The campaign, initiated by magazine publisher Andrew Brooks, indicates that the incident happened on July 30. Vogler is currently hospitalized at the UNC Chapel Hill Burn Clinic, where he remains in stable but critical condition, requiring multiple surgeries, extended treatment, and ongoing rehabilitation.
Brooks expressed his shock at the incident, stating, "On July 30, 2025, our friend, husband, father, and community leader Lee Vogler was the victim of a horrific and senseless act of violence." As of now, the fundraiser has reached $57,187 out of a $100,000 goal. Vogler’s family is reportedly by his side amid his recovery process.
