Volleyball Downs Tennessee Tech in Alumni Game

MACON, Ga. – Mercer Volleyball defeated the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles for the second consecutive day in Mercer Volleyball's Alumni Game.

Three separate standout performances led the way for the Bears in today's match as

SET 2 I 23-25

Mercer took control in the early parts of the second set, using a six-point run to go up 6-1. The two teams went toe-to-toe for the next few points before Tennessee Tech used a three-point run to bring the match to within two. Neither team could take the advantage for the next couple of points, but the Golden Eagles eventually rallied off another three straight points to tie the set at 14. Mercer established a 21-19 lead late in the set, but Tennessee Tech took six of the final eight points to win the second set 25-23.

The Bears and Golden Eagles were tied at six early in the third set before Mercer took four of the next five to go up 10-7. They further established their lead later in the set with a three-point run to take a 13-9 lead, and despite the Golden Eagles' best efforts, they could only bring the deficit to within one as the Bears took the third ...
