WASHINGTON — Washington state's Department of Commerce announced $2.4 million in grants for projects aimed at expanding sustainable waste reduction and recycling innovation.
The funding supported work such as turning industrial and post-consumer waste materials into durable construction blocks and converting carbon dioxide byproduct in organic waste into renewable natural gas.
Commerce reported the grants were part of the Industrial Symbiosis Program under the Climate Commitment Act.
One group that received funding said the investment could help communities across the state.
At the Composite Recycling Technology Center, representatives said the research would support job growth and could help bring new industries into Washington's economy. More Video From This Section
