Washington State Implements New Regulations in 2025
As 2025 progresses, Washington State prepares to implement a series of new regulations starting August 1. Among these, a comprehensive package of 333 laws began taking effect on July 27, highlighting notable shifts in various sectors.
Child Abuse Reporting and Parking Regulations
One significant update mandates religious leaders to report suspected child abuse, with certain confessional exemptions still in place. Additionally, local parking regulations are being revised to restrict parking requirements to no more than one space per two housing units.
Employment Law Changes
The most impactful changes pertain to employment laws. Protections around wage transparency and anti-discrimination measures are being strengthened under HB 1905 and SB 5104, including safeguards against coercion related to immigration status, with penalties reaching up to $20,000.
