WASKOM, Texas - An East Texas community is coming together to support the family of a former Waskom student-athlete who was shot and killed Friday night in Flint.
Victor Bravo, 19, died after a shooting in Smith County. Authorities have not announced any arrests in the case.
In Waskom, friends, family members and local businesses are honoring Bravo's memory while helping his loved ones cover funeral expenses.
At Lupita's Comidas, owner Maria Pineda said the loss has deeply affected the community. The food truck is donating a portion of its sales this week to assist Bravo's family.
"Victor is perfect. So, I don't know what happened," Pineda said.
Support for the Bravo family has poured in through GoFundMe campaigns and donations from local businesses. Friends, neighbors and former classmates have also stepped forward to help during the difficult time.
Bravo was well known at Waskom High School, where he competed in both cross country and track. The Waskom Athletics Program remembered him as a respectful, hardworking and kind student-athlete who represented the program with pride.
