No. 24 Louisville improved to 1-1 on the season with a 59-13 win over visiting Villanova on Friday night at L&N Stadium.
Quarterback Lincoln Kienholz threw for 332 yards and two touchdowns, while also adding 42 rushing yards and two more scores to spark an offensive effort that gained 635 total yards. Kienholz, who became the first player in program history with 300 yards passing in his first two games, connected with tight end Jaleel Skinner for his longest pass of the evening, a 69-yard score late in the first half.
Defensively, the Cardinals allowed 253 yards, with 178 of that coming through the air. Safety Kaleb Beasley paced the defensive with a team-high seven tackles, including four solo stops. Cornerback DJ Waller Jr., added five stop, including a tackle for a loss.
Kienholz, Skinner, Beasley and Waller all spent a few minutes in the postgame press conference discussing the win.
