BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A pop-up event inviting the community to share their ideas for Canalside was hosted at the Erie Basin Marina on Sunday, as part of the next phase of Empire State Development's Buffalo waterfront expansion project, Canalside: The Next Wave.
Visitors were asked a series of questions about their experience with Canalside, including how often they visit and for what purposes or activities, as well as their hopes for the area's future.
Leanne Voit with Highland Planning, one of the project's developers, said that the team's area of interest encompasses the tip of the Erie Basin Marina to the Cobblestone District, as well as going north towards Sahlen Field.
Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement Advertisement "The idea is to really look at the development that has been happening, and talk about what might be missing, and what the future of this district should look like," Voit said. "This strategy is really about, overall, gathering ideas from the public as well as stakeholders. The consultants' team will be talking to different stakeholders; residents who already live in the area, businesses that are already there, entities that are involved."
