Westermo Unveils Hyrax-1000: A Modular Railway Computing Platform Based on Open Standards

Westermo has introduced the Hyrax-1000, a robust and adaptable modular computing platform tailored for railway systems. Built on the open ModBlox7 standard, this customizable BoxPC offers scalable performance options with multiple CPU choices and extensive storage capacity, making it ideal for railway applications. Despite its compact size, the basic model provides a comprehensive array of interfaces, including Gigabit Ethernet, RS232/422/485, DisplayPort, and USB 3.0. Thanks to its modular architecture, the Hyrax-1000 can be expanded with up to seven interface or communication modules, enabling highly customized configurations. Its versatile housing design supports installation options such as DIN rail, wall mounting, and 19-inch rack mounting, ensuring easy integration in various industrial environments. Designed in compliance with railway standard EN 50155, the system requires no maintenance and operates reliably within a temperature range of -40°C to +70°C.
