Green Bay's WGBW-AM has reverted to its classic Oldies music format, trading its previous progressive talk programming. The station now features a full-service music lineup with 'Local News and Timeless Hits,' broadcast on its AM channel and via an FM translator at 97.9 FM.
Earlier this year, WGBW switched from its long-standing Oldies format to talk radio in January 2023, following a decade of music programming. Prior to that, the station experimented briefly with Sports Talk but soon returned to its nostalgic music lineup spanning the 1950s to the 1970s.
The station's weekday schedule includes local hosts such as Dan Markus, Laura McKenna, Eric Westphal, and Nite Lite with Pete Schwaba, whose show continues from the station's previous News/Talk format. News updates are delivered hourly by Lisa Hale, while Mike Clemens provides ongoing sports coverage.
Civic Media, the station's owner, also offers talk programming through WISS-AM 1100 and FM 98.3 in Oshkosh, along with FM 96.5 in Appleton. According to Civic Media's Senior Vice President Chris Moreau, there's strong demand for this iconic music, and the company aims to sustain its commitment to local journalism and advertising....
