The New York Knicks pivoted after winning their first NBA championship in 53 seasons. The Knicks primary backup center walked to the division rival Boston Celtics. New York replaced much of that production in adding Andre Drummond. But the Knicks weren't done. They've recently signed a gaggle of free agents, including a few relatively high profile players. Now, New York is set to enter training camp with too many players, and an intense competition for those last spots should ensue.
After championship, Knicks core is mostly set
As New York approaches training camp, they have only a few open roster spots. It's fair to assume that the team has 10 of its 15 players between Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, OG Anunoby, Josh Hart, Karl-Anthony Towns, Miles McBride, Landry Shamet, Jose Alvarado, Jordan Clarkson, and Andre Drummond. Granted, that assumes McBride remains with the team, which could be in question given his need for an extension after this season. We can also assume that Tyler Kolek and Mohamed Diawara are safe.
Assuming McBride sticks, that means there are three spots remaining, at most. Pacome Dadiet is entering his third season. And while he's still relatively young (21 years...
