AUSTIN (Nexstar) — At least three agencies are now investigating Sunday's ICE shooting in north Austin, as questions remain about what led federal immigration agents to shoot a Venezuelan food delivery driver.
On Sunday, federal immigration agents shot 28-year-old Venezuelan national Wilber Rafael Garces Perez in North Austin while he was working as a food delivery driver. Outside of that, few details have been confirmed about what led to the encounter between Garces Perez and ICE agents.
Who is investigating? According to DHS's initial statement, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) is leading the investigation with Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) assistance. Austin police and the Texas Rangers are also conducting their own review, creating multiple reviews into the same shooting.
