We’re never getting The Old MLB Postseason back. Hell, for some of us, the old MLB postseason isn’t even actually the old one: depending on the audience, the implication there could be for a pre-Wild Card era format, or for the one in place starting in 1994 that lasted until the introduction of what we’ll call the Baseball Thunderdome Wild Card Game. Since 1994, there have been three different first rounds of the MLB postseason in place, and there might even be someone reading this who remembers when there wasn’t even a League Championship Series for the AL and NL, just the top team from each league facing off in the World Series. After all, the LCS only came onto the scene in 1969.
That’s the intro paragraph for a reason: to ease you into arguing for further change. Hey, at least here you can say that it’s a necessity instead of just a way to create additional revenue for television deals.
