Wildcats Clinch First Division II Baseball Title with Narrow Victory

The New London-Spicer (NLS) American Legion baseball team secured their first-ever Division II state championship with a flawless 1-0 victory over Montevideo in the final match held at Veterans Memorial Field. Led by pitcher Logan Swenson, who delivered an exceptional performance with seven strikeouts, the Wildcats limited Montevideo to just a single hit throughout the game. The decisive inning occurred in the bottom of the fourth, when Garret White singled, stole second, and scored on Ethan Nelson's double, providing the only run of the game. Montevideo's offense struggled, managing only one hit and no runs, with Dack pitching for the Thunder Hawks. Other tournament results included Luverne claiming third place, Esko finishing fifth, and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton securing seventh place. This victory marks a historic milestone for the Wildcats, highlighting a dominant defensive effort and clutch hitting to clinch the championship.
