Willmar Announces Reopening of Northbound Lanes on Business Highway 71
The City of Willmar announced the reopening of the northbound lanes on Business Highway 71 on Friday, August 8, 2025. This development allows traffic to flow in both directions along the newly improved northbound lanes, while southbound vehicles are diverted onto the same lanes.
Two-Way Traffic Maintenance and Ongoing Work
Starting from this date, two-way traffic will be maintained exclusively on the northbound side of the highway until mid-September. During this period, work on the southbound lanes continues, including milling operations to remove the top asphalt layer, along with concrete removals, spot replacements, and traffic signal upgrades throughout August.
Upcoming Asphalt Installation and Project Completion
The installation of new asphalt on the southbound lanes is scheduled to commence in the week of September 15. The project’s second phase is expected to conclude by the week of September 29, at which point all lanes will be fully reopened to traffic.
