MADISON — The Wisconsin Department of Justice is urging consumers to determine whether they qualify for compensation from settlements involving generic drug manufacturers accused of conspiring to inflate prices.
A federal court recently granted preliminary approval to a plan developed by Wisconsin and 47 other states and territories to distribute more than $96.5 million in settlement funds.
The settlements involve Glenmark, Lannett, Bausch, Apotex, Heritage Pharmaceuticals and Heritage’s parent company, Emcure. The companies agreed to settlements involving allegations that they illegally conspired to raise prices on certain generic drugs.
“Wisconsinites shouldn’t have to pay more for prescription drugs because prices were improperly manipulated,” Attorney General Josh Kaul said. “I encourage folks to find out if they’re eligible for compensation from these settlements with generic drug companies and, if they are eligible, to submit a claim.”
Consumers who purchased certain generic drugs between May 2009 and December 2019 may be eligible. A list of qualifying drugs and additional information are available at AGGenericDrugs.com.
