Lisa Leslie’s winning record is now immortalized in bronze. Leslie, the first player to dunk in a WNBA game, a four-time Olympic gold medallist, and a two-time WNBA champion, has redefined women’s sports with her longstanding legacy.
On September 20, the Los Angeles Sparks legend was honored with a statue in Star Plaza, celebrating her remarkable 12-year WNBA career.
“I feel like it’s been talked about for quite some time,” Leslie told Olympics.com . “I never really believed it, really. I just have always been like, ‘Oh, a statue, wow, that would be amazing.’”

Leslie received a call from her agent, Alison Galer, to finalize details, including her pose for the statue.
She told the outlet, “You know, it’s a little surreal to be alive, I think, and see a statue of yourself come to fruition. When I started to work on the project, just like, what pose do I want and all of the details, then it got real real.”
Leslie, however, expressed her initial concern about the statue’s appearance, joking, “I feel like a statue doesn’t always look good. And I’m like, ma’am, do not have something erected out here that looks a hot mess. So ...
