When you shop for apples, be sure you know how you’re going to eat them:
- If you are enjoying them out of hand, choose a firm, sweet or tart apple like a Pink Lady, Fuji, Granny Smith or York.
- For baking, choose Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, Golden Delicious, Pink Lady or York.
- Applesauce and quick-baking muffins call for softer apples that cook quickly like Cortland, Jonathan and McIntosh.
