The nine-time Grammy Award winner will co-headline the evening with Thievery Corporation, the Washington, D.C.-based collective known for blending electronic music with reggae, dub, jazz, hip-hop and global influences. The combination should create one of the most musically diverse nights of Ravinia’s closing stretch.
The concert begins at 7 p.m. inside the newly renovated Hunter Pavilion. Donor gates open at 4:30 p.m., followed by public gates at 5 p.m.
What can fans expect from Ziggy Marley at Ravinia?
Marley arrives at Ravinia following the release of Brightside, his ninth solo studio album. The eight-song project finds the musician examining wellness, mental health, racism, grief and the choice to remain hopeful in a troubled world.
He co-produced the album with his brother Stephen Marley and recorded it at Rebel Lion Studio in Los Angeles. The project features contributions from Nikka Costa, Trombone Shorty, Sheila E. and ukulele musician Jake Shimabukuro.
Marley recorded Brightside using 432 Hz, a frequency sometimes associated with meditation and relaxation. That decision complements an album built around introspection, emotional recovery and the restorative power of music.
